Pioneers in Innovation
Tritons for Sally Ride Science is proud to present our first annual Ignite Talk at UCSD. This year's theme is "Pioneers in Innovation". We selected this theme to represent the accomplishments of our speakers. Each of the individuals we have invited are noted for their groundbreaking work in their field and advancing the representation of women and minorities in STEAM. We hope that their talks will excite and inspire you, and create a new generation of "Pioneers in Innovation".
Tritons for Sally Ride Science
Tritons for Sally Ride Science is a student organization under the National Organization Sally Ride Science, and it was founded in Spring 2016. The main aim of our org is to promote STEAM education in the community. Our members do everything from teaching middle school classes on Video Game Design and Modeling with CAD to hosting quarterly socials and volunteering opportunities. TSRS hopes to use college ambassadors to inspire underserved youth in the community to find their passions and pursue higher education.
Kristine is a fourth-year undergraduate majoring in Bioengineering at UCSD. As current acting president of Tritons for Sally Ride Science, she hopes to motivate and inspire undergraduates to promote science literacy and make an impact on San Diego youth.
Kalyani Kottilil is a second-year Biology: Bioinformatics major at Warren College. She plans to work in bioinformatics and data science and possibly a medical school in the future. As treasurer, she hopes to instill interest in the organization as it grows in size and interest.
Surabhi is a third-year undergraduate at UCSD majoring in Bioengineering, and she is the current public relations officer of Tritons for Sally Ride Science. Through her involvement, she hopes to reach underserved parts of the San Diego community to inspire an interest in science, engineering, and higher education in youth.
