Christine Kirkpatrick, is the division director for IT Systems & Services at the San Diego Supercomputer Center (SDSC) at the University of California San Diego, and the Executive Director of the US National Data Service (NDS), based at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications, at the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign, a U.S. initiative focused on how scientists and researchers across all disciplines can find, reuse, and publish data. As Deputy Director for the NSF-funded West Big Data Innovation Hub, Christine represents the thirteen western states from New Mexico, to Montana, to Alaska, in fostering new partnerships between academia, government, industry, and non-profits in areas of data innovation or data-driven approaches that benefit the region. Her research interests include research data frameworks, as well as services and interoperability challenges of creating a seamless ‘datanet’ ecosystem. Christine has been with University of California for over 20 years. Prior to UC, she worked in industry for multiple software companies. She holds a Masters from UC San Diego in Architecture-based Enterprise Systems Engineering.
